The Rules
- The challenge runs for four weeks, starting Sunday, November 1st until Monday, November 30th.
- This challenge is tracked in kilometres, not steps. We aren’t tracking movement but actual intentional walks (or runs), either outside, on a track, in the mall or on a treadmill.
- No distance is too small. If you can only walk 500 metres, that’s great, that’s a walk. However, we are capping the distance at 10kms per day.
- You can get bonus points. If you want to add extra kilometres to your day, you can plank. Two minutes of planking allows you to bank a bonus kilometre and every minute thereafter gives you an extra kilometre. When submitting, make sure you refer to these as bonus kilometres, and don’t add them to the actual walked distance.
- This is a cross Canada team challenge, where every kilometre counts. Our goal will be to, as a team, get as far across Canada as we can in 30 days. Following the trans Canada highway from St. Johns to Victoria, that’s 7821 kilometres.
- We will be tallying everyone’s totals each week and will be making note of the following: the most consistent walkers, the most improved from week to week as well as the top distance walkers.
- Tracking is on an honour system basis. Just keep track of your daily kilometres and report them at least twice per week. Either send your results to your personal trainer, email the front desk (subject line: Walking Challenge 2026), or better yet, come in and write it directly on our wall chart that we will have at the studio. If we don’t hear from you at least once by Friday at 12:00 pm we will come knockin’!
- We ask that everyone donate a suggested $25 to the pot, 100% of which will go straight to Food for Life for their annual Turkey Drive. We will also be donating a turkey to Food for Life for every province we cross, that could be up to 10 more turkeys for families in need this coming holiday season!
