Baked oats was a viral TIk Tok trend that I had to try and I hate to say it, but it did not disappoint. This recipe is healthy, easy and so delicious! I have included a base recipe that is delicious on its own and then three other options for you to try if you want some variety. This recipe is pretty forgiving so have fun with it and experiment with other ingredients and flavours.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • cooking spray or oil to grease the ramekin

Optional variations:

Double Chocolate: 1 tbsp cocoa powder + 1 tbsp mini chocolate chips

Peanut Butter Cookie Dough: 1 tbsp all natural peanut butter + 1 tbsp mini chocolate chips + 1 tsp vanilla extract

Banana Berry: 1/4 cup blueberries or raspberries + 1 tsp vanilla extract (don’t puree the berries, just fold them in the pre-prepared batter)

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a ramekin or oven-safe pan with cooking spray.
  • In a blender combine all the ingredient until smooth and well-blended, about 1 minute. Do not, blend the berries or the chocolate chips if using, just fold them in.
  • Transfer the batter into the prepared ramekin. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until a cake tester inserted in the center comes out with just a couple crumbs. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before serving and frosting.

TIP!! To make it ever faster, consider making it in the microwave for 120 – 360 seconds. Make sure you’re using a microwave safe bowl though, and that it’s twice the size of the batter since it will rise while baking quickly in the microwave.
