Commit to the following 7 things and boost your immunity and raise your grade to an A+ when it comes to getting and staying healthy.

1) Get Enough Sleep

Although researchers aren’t exactly sure how sleep boosts the immune system, it’s clear that getting enough – usually 7 to 9 hours – is key for good health.  One of the ways to do this is by ensuring you put away all screens one hour before bed.

2) Consume Protein at Each Meal

Protein is vital to build and repair body tissue and fight viral and bacterial infections. Immune system powerhouses such as antibodies and immune system cells rely on protein. Too little protein in the diet may lead to symptoms of weakness, fatigue, apathy, and poor immunity.

3) Drink A Glass of Water with 1/2 a Lemon in It Each Morning

Following general good-health guidelines is the single best step you can take toward keeping your immune system strong and healthy. Every part of your body, including your immune system, functions better when protected from environmental assaults and bolstered by healthy-living strategies such as staying hydrated.

4) Exercise Every Damn Day

As you will read below, stress can actually impact your immune system in a negative way, but thank goodness we have exercise as an antidote!  Exercise is one of the best ways you can improve your health, not only because it reduces stress, but at moderate levels it has also been shown to improve your immune health.

5) Destress with Yoga or Meditation Every Day for 15 Minutes

Ongoing stress makes us susceptible to illness and disease because the brain sends defense signals to the endocrine system, which then releases an array of hormones that not only gets us ready for emergency situations but severely depresses our immunity at the same time.

6) Eliminate Immune Suppressing Foods including Alcohol and Sugar

Eating or drinking too much sugar curbs immune system cells that attack bacteria. This effect lasts for at least a few hours after downing a couple of sugary drinks.  For this reason, eliminating all foods that act like sugar is essential to a healthy immune system!

7) Supplement with Vitamin D

There is enough research out there to indicate that vitamin D is an essential nutrient to help not only keep your bones healthy but evidence is coming out that its also an immune booster.  Follow your doctors recommendation as to how much is right for you.
